Solo Art Exhibition in Miami: Photos from the Opening and Closing Nights
Two unforgettable evenings in July marked the opening of my art solo exhibition in Miami.
A large turnout came to admire my new works and witness a unique and extraordinary live performance, featuring the Mona Lisa’s Daughter“
At the start of the evening, during the opening of the exhibition, the atmosphere was electrifying. The crowd gathered at the entrance, with a palpable sense of anticipation in the air. Excited guests chatted amongst themselves, admiring the setup while waiting for the doors to open. The dim lighting and elegant decor of the gallery created a welcoming and sophisticated environment, perfectly highlighting the artworks on display.
New Paintings
In addition to the “Mona Lisa’s Daughter,” I debuted “The Guardian,” “Resilience,” “Unnamed Woman,” and many other pieces.
These works belong to four different collections: “Renaissance Collection,” “Radiance,” the very first piece of the new “Perfectly Imperfect” collection, and a triptych from the “Studio Collection.”
Opening Night
Around 200 people attended the opening night. The crowd gathered at the entrance as the curator and gallery owner introduced the exhibition.
Among the guests were many local celebrities, influencers, and even a journalist from RAI, a major Italian television channel.
Closing Night
The closing night was more intimate, with about 70 people attending on a warm evening in late July. I had the opportunity to give a tour of my works and explain the concepts behind “Mona Lisa’s Daughter” and the “Radiance” collection.
I was delighted to reconnect with many friends and collectors who attended both events. I have a strong bond with Miami, as I believe it has a truly vibrant and inspiring art scene.

From April 23 to 29, my artwork titled ‘Mona Lisa’s Daughter’ was displayed on two giant screens in Times Square, including a 100-foot-long one, establishing one of the most important moments of my career so far.
For this special occasion, I selected my piece called ‘Mona Lisa’s Daughter.’ In this article, I will explore the remarkable journey of this painting.
Who is Mona Lisa’s Daughter?
If you know my name, you probably already saw images of this painting. Truth be told, I’m obsessed with this painting. It’s likely one of the best artworks I’ve ever produced. Everything about it captivates me: the dimensions, the technique used, the selection of colors, the backstory, and the final result.
In 2023, I created Mona Lisa’s Daughter, a fictional character inspired by my profound admiration for the Renaissance period and my desire to pay homage to my homeland.
For sure, if you ask around, most people would agree that the Mona Lisa is probably the world’s most famous painting. Over the years, the painting has reached an iconic “celebrity” status. Modern research has uncovered interesting details about how the artwork was created and the woman portrayed in it: Lisa del Giocondo.
Did you know, for instance, that there are actually two Mona Lisas, painted 30 years apart?
My painting is an imaginative exploration based on the idea that Lisa del Giocondo lost her baby daughter at birth. I aimed to create a statement piece that captures the fragility, strength, and conflicting forces governing our world. Mona Lisa’s Daughter symbolizes the Yin and Yang, representing beauty, decay, life, and death.
What is the big deal behind this painting?
The moment I first revealed this painting to some friends, I quickly realized it carried a powerful message. Their reactions inspired me to exhibit it even more. Since then, Mona Lisa’s Daughter has been featured in Vogue Magazine and now graces a massive digital billboard in Times Square.
My team and I decided we wanted this painting to be as famous as the original one. We aimed to honor Leonardo Da Vinci’s masterpiece without just making a copy, and at the same time, create something new and fresh.
This isn’t the first time I’ve drawn inspiration from past works. My first collection, Romeo and Juliet, is an interpretation of Shakespeare’s play, and The David, a triptych, were both showcased during Art Basel Miami.
Key concepts behind this painting
The painting conveys the idea of opposing yet interconnected forces in life, which is a core concept rooted in ancient Chinese philosophy. Following this concept, a woman, like Mona Lisa, may “live” forever, but her daughter won’t.
To represent this paradox, some sections of the painting are well-defined, while others are left gray and intentionally unrefined.
Mona Lisa’s Daughter is destined to travel the globe and appear in some of the most renowned magazines worldwide.
That’s precisely why it made its way onto two billboards in Times Square.
The Event In Times Square
The Times Square event was organized in partnership with a gallery. We meticulously planned the launch, but then, out of the blue, the gallery vanished. Yes, you read that correctly.
The exhibition was called off…
A little drama
This turn of events made the news, and several artists, myself included, lost both the chance to exhibit and the money invested.
I had already arranged my trip to New York, including flight tickets and hotel accommodations, so the only option left was to try and make things work regardless of the situation.
I wasn’t ready to accept a “no,” so I tapped into my resources and made it happen without any gallery support.
In fact, the painting ended up being featured on not just one, but two different billboards.
It turned out to be a huge success for me.
The tour
Mona Lisa’s Daughter is now off to Miami for a solo exhibition and will be in London this summer.

As a painter, I firmly believe that figurative art is the best medium to tell stories and convey messages.
Decoding the Art World: Navigating the Debate Between Figurative and Abstract Art
The debate over the value of abstract art versus figurative art has been ongoing for decades. Many argue that abstract art is the natural evolution of figurative art, building on the principles of form, color, and composition established by earlier artists. The work of Vasily Kandinsky, in particular, is often cited as an example of how abstract art can be used to translate music into a visual vocabulary, creating interesting and thought-provoking concepts.
While it is true that Kandinsky’s work paved the way for new possibilities in the art world, it can be argued that the subsequent shift towards abstract art has taken modern art down a strange and confusing path. In my own work as an artist, I have found that figurative art provides a more relatable and accessible means of storytelling. However, I also recognize the value of abstract art in exploring new possibilities and pushing the boundaries of traditional art forms.
Ultimately, the choice between abstract and figurative art comes down to personal preference and artistic vision.
Both approaches have their strengths and weaknesses, and each artist must decide which style best suits their individual goals and message.
The Dark Side of Abstract Art: How Weekend Painters Are Ruining the Art World
Furthermore, in the present day art world, there is an abundance of individuals who pursue art as a casual hobby without investing in the study of color, composition, anatomy, or storytelling.
These amateur artists simply apply paint to canvases in the hopes of generating some additional income without truly understanding the principles and techniques that underpin the creation of compelling works of art.
These amateur artists who dabble in art as a casual hobby and without pursuing enough competence have often turned to abstract art as their weapon of choice. One of the main reasons for this is that abstract art is relatively simple to afford, both in terms of time and resources.
The lack of foundational knowledge of color, composition, and anatomy can lead to works that lack coherence and impact. The absence of a clear message or narrative can also leave viewers feeling disconnected or unengaged with the artwork.

My personal choice
To clarify, I have never been drawn entirely to abstract art.
While I can appreciate its beauty and aesthetic value, it simply does not speak to me in the way that figurative art does.
I believe that figurative art, which is grounded in realism and representation, is the most effective way to communicate a message to an audience.
This is why all my work pivots around storytelling.
Storytelling has always been an essential part of human communication. Through stories, we can learn, connect with others, and explore the complexities of the world around us.
As a painter, my goal is to tell stories that inspire, educate, and provoke thought. I use figurative art to create narratives that are both visually stunning and intellectually stimulating.

The portrait of my grandfather
As an artist, I have had the privilege of using figurative art to tell a variety of stories. Two cases that particularly stand out to me are the story of my grandfather Domenico and the Romeo and Juliet collection.
For the portrait of my grandfather, I wanted to capture his strength, dignity, and wisdom. I carefully selected the colors and composition to convey his personality and the challenges he had faced in his life. The result was a powerful portrait that communicated his life story and the lessons he had learned. This painting not only honored my grandfather’s memory but also served as an inspiration to others who saw it.
In the Romeo and Juliet collection, each painting served as a chapter of the story. I used figurative art to capture the emotion, drama, and tragedy of the famous Shakespearean play.
By using recognizable imagery and symbolism, I was able to convey the complex themes of the play and immerse viewers in the story. The collection became a powerful and emotional journey that resonated with viewers on a deep level.

My personal experience
In 2022, I had the privilege of taking my family on a tour of some of the world’s most renowned art museums. From the Biennale in Venice to the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Cathedral, from the National Gallery in London to the MoMA in New York City, we were able to experience art in all its glorious forms. This journey was truly one of the most incredible experiences of my life.

The Impact of Direct Experience on a Young Mind
My daughter Anastacia, who was 11 at the time, was particularly inspired by our visits to museums. During our tour, she fell in love with the art of the ancient Egyptians and was captivated by the intricate sculptures and beautiful paintings we encountered. Her direct experience with art was transformative and has left a lasting impression on her.
In fact, Anastacia now has more hands-on experience with art than many art teachers in America. The passion and curiosity she developed during our museum visits have inspired her to take up painting and pursue a career as an artist. This just goes to show the powerful impact that direct exposure to art can have on a young mind.
