About the artwork
This artwork of mine is an homage to Michelangelo, perhaps one of the greatest geniuses of the past and one of the greatest artists of the renaissance.
I decided to use specifically this statue because it is the symbol of a major accomplishment and human advance in different industries at that time.
In order to get the magnitude of this artwork, I need to briefly talk about the fertile historical period that surrounded and supported this creation.

About the David
David shows extreme skill in defining the motion of the statue. Michelangelo’s anatomy study was very well refined. The position he is in is known as Contrapposto or counter pose.
while a part of his body is relaxed, the other is in tension, creating this natural look.
the anatomy is perfectly rendered as Michelangelo understood the human body better than many other physicians.
“Anyone who has seen Michelangelo’s David has no need to see anything else by another sculptor, living or dead”
the veins on his arms show up where there is tension and correctly disappear where there is relaxation.
The proportions are adjusted, meaning, that the statue was built to be on top of a church, and be seen from below.
